OTTOGI Yangnyeom Chicken Sauce Original 300g
Usually called “chikin” in Korea, fried chicken has been a staple of Korean cuisine.
Now loved by millions, many sauces have come and gone to accompany Korea’s love of fried chicken, but none quite like Yangneyon chicken sauce. Once called “Mek-si-can”, the original Yangneyon chicken sauce originated from a man called Yoon Jonggye. Developed in his restaurant back in the ‘70s.
Ottogi has carried on from the traditions, creating a deliciously sweet gochujang sauce made with garlic, onion, soy, red pepper, carrot & other spices, famously known as “the apotheosis of the Korean style” OTTOGI Yang-nyeom Chicken Sauce!

Korean Yangnyeom Fried Chicken
Chicken:
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons rotisserie chicken seasoning
- 1 tablespoon ground red chilli pepper
- 2 whole chickens
Fry Batter & Sauce:
- OTTOGI Chicken Frying Batter Mix
- OTTOGI Presco Canola Oil for deep-frying
- OTTOGI Yang-nyeom Chicken Sauce
- Combine salt, rotisserie chicken seasoning and red chilli pepper in a bowl. Sprinkle all over the chickens, then refrigerate for 24 hours.
- Preheat oven to 160°C
- Roast chickens for 2 hours. Let cool for 1 hour.
- Cover chicken in and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Cut each whole chicken into 10 to 12 pieces. Lightly coat with Ottogi Frying Mix .
- Preheat oil to 180°C in a deep-fryer. Deep fry chicken until crispy, about 3 minutes.
- Preheat a pan or wok with Yangnyeom Sauce until sauce is heated, then gently toss the chicken in the wok until all pieces are covered with sauce.
- Serve immediately.
