OTTOGI Stuffed Pancake Mix

 

A staple food in many cultures, pancakes have been around for centuries and have been known to date as far back as the Stone Age! From ancient Greece to Shakespeare’s literacy, the popularity of pancakes comes as no surprise to the many who celebrate Pancake Day. Unlike Western-style donuts, Korean traditional markets have been selling chewy donuts made from sticky rice, sugar and nuts and for a long time. and these donuts are made with glutinous rice flour to suit the taste of Koreans and have a more chewy taste.

Ottogi Stuffed Pancake

  • 200g Ottogi Stuffed Pancake.
  • 1 Egg
  • 100mL (1/2 Cup) of milk/ water

1. Mix milk or water with egg.
2. Add the proper amount of Ottogi Stuffed Pancake Mix to egg mix from #1.
3. Preheat your pan on very low heat.
4. Apply a small amount of oil to a pan and wipe off with a paper towel.
5. Pour out the batter into a pan and cook it for 3-4 minutes. You will see the surface of hot cake forms bubbles. Do not flip yet! When the bubbles are not forming rapidly (about 3-4 minutes of cooking), it is time to flip.
6. Flip carefully and then cook it for 2-3 minutes.
7. Finishing up your hot cake with a little bit of butter, maple syrup, or/and delicious fruits like strawberries, blueberries and banana.

(About 10 Jam-Filled Pancakes in one pack)

  • Dough premix powder
  • Instant yeast powder
  • Jam filling mix powder

Directions:

  1. Prepare a large bowl.
  2. Add 250mL of lukewarm water and instant yeast in the bowl. Mix it well.
  3. Add Ottogi Korean Pancake Mix powder to the yeast and mix it well. Knead the dough for five minutes and round it up into the center. No need to ferment. The dough is ready right away. (Fermentation can be done. Cover the plastic wrap over the bowl until the dough to rise. This may take about 30-45 minutes. Then squeeze it gently for all the gases to escape from the dough.)

FILLING THE PANCAKE WITH JAM

  1. Put cooking oil on your hands to prevent the dough from sticking.
  2. Take a portion (about 65g) of the dough on your hand and flattened it.
  3. Put a spoonful of Jam filling (about 13g) in the middle of the flattened dough and seal it.

COOKING

  1. Preheat the frying pan over high heat
  2. Reduce the heat to med-low and add cooking oil.
  3. Place the prepared jam-filled dough in the frying pan, sealed side downward.
  4. Press down the dough and cook it until you see slightly brown color.
  5. Flip it over and cook the other side for 1~2 minutes until you see golden brown color.
  6. Flip it again and cook the other side until it becomes golden brown color.
  7. Serve the delicious Ho-Tteok while is it hot. (Be Careful! Jam filling is really hot.)
