Gim (also romanized as kim), is one of the most widely cultivated and consumed types of seaweed in Korea. The dried sheets of gim are often rolled to wrap and be eaten with rice. Roasted seaweed that is seasoned and cut for the perfect side dish to accompany your meal or as a standalone snack. This recipe is best for someone who loves freshly roasted seaweed and would like a side dish that is much more friendly on the budget!

Roasted for that delicious light and crispy taste, the seasoned laver is high in monounsaturated fats and anti-inflammatory properties and also known to prevent heart disease.

 

Seaweed Rice Balls

  • 2 cups steaming short-medium grain rice
  • 2 units Sigol Roasted Seaweed with Olive oil
  • 1/2 tbsp OTTOGI Maeil Jin Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp OTTOGI sesame oil, more for coating the plastic glove
  • OTTOGI Roasted Sesame, for garnish

  1. Cut the seaweed sheets into small pieces with a scissor or put the seaweed sheets into a food processor and process until coarsely shredded.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix rice, shredded seaweed, soy sauce, and sesame oil until incorporated.
  3. Put a plastic glove on one hand. Add a little bit of oil to the plastic glove so that the rice does not stick. When the rice is warm enough to handle (not cold), put 2 tablespoons of rice on your palm and squeeze lightly until the rice sticks together. Shape it into a ball.
  4. Repeat until the rice is finished. Garnish with sesame seeds

Directions: Add to clear soup or broths, rice, salad and ramen

Ingredients: Seaweed, Olive Oil, Corn Oil, Canola Oil, Sesame Oil, Salt, Red Pepper, Seed Oil.
